The Best Linux Distribution for Video Conferencing and Primary Usage

There are many linux distributions to choose from.

XFCE4

If you choose this, burning will not work. Say good bye to optical backups.

For writing documents in a secure environment; –

Rocky Linux 8.

✔️SELinux is turned on by default.
❌Does not have dvdisaster in their repos
❌Burning does not work
❌Not a straight forward install of virtualbox/libvirt

For a libre only setup; –

Debian 12 Bookworm.

✔️Has dvdisaster in their repos
❌No SELinux by default
❌The microphone in firefox-esr does not work.
❌Not a straight forward install of virtualbox/libvirt

For video conferencing, multimedia and primary usage; –

Linux Mint 21 Virginia.

✔️Has dvdisaster in their repos
✔️Prop multimedia codecs can be installed easily
✔️A straight forward install of virtual box
️✔️Firefox webcam and microphone works
❌No SELinux by default

Conclusion

If you want a primary os where everything works, then use the ubuntu based linux mint. Use the other mentioned distributions if you are willing to sacrifice their downsides, like not being able to burn, the microphone not working etc.
